The history of mankind, healing methods have always existed which were based on the transfer of universal, all pervading, life energy– the same energy that brings forth all life in the universe and nourishes it. Thousands of years ago, the Tibetans already possessed a deep understanding of the nature of spirit, energy and matter and used this knowledge to heal their bodies, harmonize their souls and lead their spirits to an experience of unity.

This knowledge was guarded and preserved by the mystery school of most ancient cultures and was available only to very few people, usually priests or spiritual leaders who in turn passed it on to their disciples by word of mouth. The knowledge of Reiki would have remained lost for ever, if Dr. Mikao Usui had not rediscovered the key, which led to the recovery of a thousand years old tradition of healing in 2500 years old Sanskrit Sutras at the end of 19th century. Then practice grew and eventually Reiki was introduced out of Japan via Hawaii in 1937 by Hawayo Takata Sensei.

The word REIKI means Universal Life Energy. It is defined as being that power which acts and lives in all created matter. The word consists of two parts. The syllable REI describes the universal, boundless aspect of the energy; while KI being the vital life force energy, which flows through all living beings. It is one of the highest forms of energy in existence.

Reiki is a part of everyone of us. It is Universal and is never meant to be lost. According to mythology, Reiki originated with the planet that also brought the many-armed Gods and Goddesses to earth, the root culture of what became pre-patriarchal India. The Indian God as we know today as Shiva, female at that time, was responsible for bringing Reiki here and she wanted to be remembered for the gift. When the human body for this planet was designated, Reiki was incorporated into the genetic coding as a birth right of all people. The Reiki originated in ancient Tibet thousands of years ago. Symbols of Reiki were used in Buddhist tradition by Lamas and Monks to enhance and increase their meditation and concentration.

The Usui system of Reiki is not only the most simple and natural healing method we know of, but it is also the most effective way of transferring the universal life energy. The healer draws through the Reiki channel the right amount of this life force energy that patients need to release, activate or transform the energy of physical, mental and etheric bodies and Immediate relief can also be attained for all kinds of complaints.

Five Principles of Reiki: –

1. Just for today, I will live Attitude of Gratitude.
Always feel thankful, for what we have, as well as, what we know will constantly be provided. Our normal state is that of all – sufficiency or abundance. By living in gratitude one can shift from the vicious circle of lackness to the virtuous circle of abundance.

2. Just for today, I will not worry.
Worry results from a feeling of separateness from the Universal Wholeness. Do not interfere with the Universal timing in Life. Live each day to the best of your ability and everything else will be taken care of.

3. Just for today, I will not anger.
Anger is the result of feeling out of control. When you get angry, become aware of your reactions and also feel thankful for having got an opportunity to look at your weakness. Do not feel guilty for experiencing anger. Be in attitude of gratitude and just for today do not anger.

4. Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
To be honest with oneself is to face truth in all things. Truth brings clarity. Honesty with oneself will project honesty into others.

5. Just for today, I will show love and respect for every Living Thing.
We are all of one source and are interdependent. To show love and respect to all others is to love and respect oneself and our Mother earth.
